Scar Revision
Although scars are by definition permanent, technological advances have proven beneficial for reducing their unsightly appearance. As he strives to provide his patients with comprehensive and satisfying results, Dr. Hevia may recommend
scar revision treatment as a supplemental measure to enhance the effects of
cosmetic fillers.
The effectiveness of scar reduction depends on a number of factors, including
the nature of the injury, your body’s healing capacity and tendency toward
the production of scar tissue, the size and depth of the wound, the blood supply
to the area and the thickness of the skin. Most commonly, patients seek Dr. Hevia’s expertise for the elimination or improvement of unwanted surgical scars. These are typically treated with a series of monthly cortisone injections directly into the scar, with great improvement noted in 6 months to one year. Regardless of the type of scar, Dr. Hevia has provided very satisfying results for his patients utilizing a variety of other methods as well – including surgical excision, fillers and laser treatments – to improve the appearance of scars caused by injury or previous surgery. The method of scar revision is determined by individual consultation.
